Heather and I went back to the bookstore on Saturday so I could drop off copies of the rest of my books. And we got to see our display, right near the front of the store. Fun! And a bit humorous as well, because the little sign at the top read “New Local Authors”. I mean true, we’re new to the store, but . . .

Heather’s been in contact with Ferguson Books downtown, and with the First Avenue Market, which is a boutique-type shop that sells stuff made by local crafters. There’s been some back-and-forth, but nothing solid yet. WSS.

Oh yeah, I did get Sharrec safely through his seizure. Trickier than I expected, doing it first-person. He’s starting to clue in to the cause of his malady, but it will have to come out slowly.

I’ve also posted first chapters (provisional) of both new books on Patreon, and made the posts free and public. I’m not going to do that with the rest, obviously. But maybe I could get some new patrons this way? I have three “free members” on there right now, but still no new paid ones since the last/only one left.

I actually came up with a one-sentence story the other day while Heather and I were out for our walk. We’ve gotten into the habit of saying, “Hello tree (or bush or hedge); excuse us tree” whenever we have to avoid branches in our path. My story, then was this:

Everybody thought I was crazy for talking to trees . . . until the day I was attacked in the forest.

I showed it to Peter Chiykowski on Bluesky, and he liked it. He replied, “That’s super economical with the word count and has a nice twist!” Yay!
