2/7 Saturday

Finished: Scythe by Neal Shusterman. An LFL find of Heather’s. 5 stars; book #8 for the year. I was going to say, who would have thought of making a dystopia out of a world where humans are immortal? Then I realized: well, duh. A super-computer runs everything; there’s no more war, poverty, disease, or serious crime; people don’t have to age past 25 or so . . . Of course people will get bored out of their skulls and teenagers will start committing non-fatal suicide for the fun of it. And they’ll idolize the people whose job it is to lethally control the population, even when some of those people become mass-murderers. It did have a reasonably tidy ending, so I don’t know that I’ll get the other two books in the series. But if I found them in a library too, I’ll probably grab them.

Started: You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day

Micky decided to wake me up at midnight by digging his claws into my scalp. I had to literally throw him off the bed three times before he would settle down. Then I had to get up again at 3:30 to pee, and then Micky woke me up again around quarter to six so that he could pretend to snuggle while slowly pushing me off my pillow. He’s such a joy to have around.

Bg is 116 – Pop-Tart today! My fingertips have gotten so toughened from all those pokes that I’ve had to turn up the spring setting on the lancer thingy. About half the time it was barely breaking the skin.
