Listening to: “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John
Another busy week. I guess? I know, who am I making excuses to anyway?
Anyway, what have I been doing? Mostly the usual. But on Friday I suddenly decided that I needed to re-sort my pictures on the computer. Not even sure I remember why. But it took way longer than I thought it would. Pretty much killed that day.
Saturday evening was spent out, celebrating Will Stewart’s birthday. Fun, but I didn’t get to bed til nearly midnight and then woke up too early but not early enough the next morning. I hate that so much.
Especially since I also had to get up early yesterday morning. It was Micky’s big day, and I had to give him some medication two hours before dropping him off. I was nodding off at my desk before noon. Anyway, he came through the surgery just fine. But the medication he had at the vet’s made him absolutely whacko. Not only did he refuse to rest (or even act like he needed to), he spent ages trying to splash all the water out of the fountain dish. This morning I had to shut him out of the den while I was cleaning the litter box, and when I was finished he decided to roll around in it. So yeah, he’s apparently fully recovered and then some.
On Sunday I made a necklace and earrings set in peach, green, and silver. I hadn’t planned on doing any more Christmas stuff this year anyway, but this was totally out of season. ah well, who cares. I put them in the shop this morning, and now my buffer box is empty. Don’t really care about that either, quite honestly.
It’s been warm enough today for snow to start melting. Which of course is why we’re supposed to have another snowstorm on Thursday. I went out to fill the bird feeder this morning and it was breezy, but the breeze was almost warm. Kind of weird.
I started and discarded two books in the past week. I wanted to take a break before starting the second half of the Miss Peregrine series. The first book was one that somebody donated to the library the first year I had it open. The story was sort of interesting, but there was such a tedious amount of detail about everything the lead character did and everywhere she went. Plus it might seem petty, but she had a wolf-dog cross that she apparently refused to have spayed even though it had already had one litter of unwanted puppies and there was a horny wolf hanging around when the dog was in heat at the beginning of the book. I can see that if the book took place in the 60s or something, but in the 90s? No. It pissed me off.
The other book was an LFL find. Not poorly written, but it just didn’t grab me. Last night I started an Erma Bombeck book I got from an LFL this past summer: A Marriage Made in Heaven, or, Too Tired for an Affair. So far it seems to be sort of semi-serious and semi-humorous. I’ll likely read the whole thing, but I’m not likely to keep it.
